"We spent many nights training in the sandhills. The summer was hot and winter very cold. There were so many mosquitoes in the tall grass that grew around cattle ponds that they made a dark cloud when disturbed. At night you had to climb in your foxhole and cover it with a shelter-half (one-half of a pup tent that we used to make a sleeping bag). We kept a cigarette lit to keep us from being carried off by the mosquitoes."

Open House - May 7th

We are open again!! Please come to the Open House on May 7th from 1pm to 5pm and bring a friend.

While not all work will be completed, we will be as far along as we can be by then. There are still some insurance issues to deal with and more work to be done in the north room. The artifacts that were cleaned and salvaged have all been inventoried and of the 1888 items before the fire, we lost 938 of them.

There have been many new artifact donations coming and we should be able to design some interesting displays. Lee Mason and Lester Jesse were very very helpful in sanding the library shelving and then Lee stained it all. Jacob Riley, Nilson Frisch, Kim Farritor, Gretchen Willey, and Laurie Gould came from St. Agnes and helped compile the military scrapbooks and clean the back of the building. Thanks everyone!

The museum is open daily Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 5 pm. We look forward to seeing you at the Open House.
