"We spent many nights training in the sandhills. The summer was hot and winter very cold. There were so many mosquitoes in the tall grass that grew around cattle ponds that they made a dark cloud when disturbed. At night you had to climb in your foxhole and cover it with a shelter-half (one-half of a pup tent that we used to make a sleeping bag). We kept a cigarette lit to keep us from being carried off by the mosquitoes."

March 15th

Once again the Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner was a huge success, thanks to Millie Abbott & Linda Sutphen.

Our main need right now will be to get the Museum staffed with volunteers for the summer. We would like to be open from 1-5pm Monday through Saturday for the summer. That would mean if 24 people would sign up for one afternoon a month for 3 months we would be able to serve the public and make the Museum a vital part of our local tourism. The more volunteers we have, the longer hours we can be open. Please think about helping out. You could bring a book to read or a friend to chat with and we could all benefit.

Call 762-2384 if you can help.
